Goplan 2 is on the way

Sócrates Vicente on July 24, 2008, Comments (12)

You were probably missing updates by now - truth is we haven’t been doing a good job in keeping you up to date with what’s going on, and how the new Goplan is coming along. So hopefully this post will make up for that, at least for a little bit until we’re ready to unveil more details about the upcoming updates.

What’s new?

So what is new on Goplan 2, you ask? There’s actual company support (which should make the pain of managing users go away for good), time tracking, better file management and attachments, and a few more things that will be announced soon. We’re hacking away at code and design, so it’s still a bit early to give you a deadline, but we’ll have a better idea in a couple of weeks for sure.

Also, I’m hoping for a full revamp of our design and layout. While the current one has been good, we’ve been finetuning a bunch of processes (many things that have been taking several page loads will be ajaxified). I’ll keep you posted on that process with wireframes and mockups. Keep an eye out.

So, we’ll be doing several blog posts in the upcoming weeks with more details on what’s coming. Keep an eye out, and if you have comments, suggestions or thoughts, do leave them in the comments or email them to our support team. Thanks!

Stability Updates

It’s very likely that in the past few weeks you have seen the “Goplan isn’t feeling too well” screen a few times. We want to let you know that while we’re building the new Goplan, we haven’t given up on the current version.

So this issue is fixed, please let us know if you’re still having any issues.

Theme support is live!

Fred Oliveira on April 10, 2008, Comments (9)

We know it’s been a very long time coming (for a good reason - we’ve been working heavily on the next major iteration of Goplan), but it’s finally here. We just pushed theme support to the live servers, which means that if you head on to your account preferences now, you’ll be able to choose new themes!

There’s only one new theme right now, the long-announced Dark theme in addition to the default green, but there’s a few more themes on the way. We’re also considering the possibility of allowing more customization, so keep an eye out. Enjoy - and again, sorry about the long wait!

Sleeves are up, new stuff is coming

Goplan Site Photo It’s been a while since Goplan has seen major updates, but don’t think we’ve been sitting on our hands and sipping piña colada.

Since the survey we sent out last September, we’ve implemented some quick simple things and solved some of the most common problems, but that wasn’t everything we did. We’ve thought long and hard about some of the changes you guys asked for and about the quality of current product. We don’t like to simply make things, we want to make things right. Now that ideas have matured and we have a pretty good idea of where we need to go, it’s time to get to work.

You can see the updated product roadmap (which we like to keep public, as we’ve said before) and have a glimpse of what’s coming. Our main priority will be refactoring the current code for speed and ease and then tackle the new features, prioritizing some of the things most of you asked for (company scoped projects, time tracking, etc).

Our goal is to improve your experience, so as always, let us know what you think through our feedback email, the forums or comments to this post. Keep an eye out, updates are coming really soon.
